This afternoon’s workshop is on eportfolios - a quick check of the room revealed most people were here for an overview, covering the nuts and bolts and also assessment purposes.

Computers - range of applications, changes in use reflected both in home/ personal as well as industry. Cheap software and hardware making it possible for everyone to access.

As we work on our computer we are creating digital assets, as part of our workflow, not as an extra task. This huge bank of digital assets needs management - where do we store it, what formats, why do we keep it, how do we arrange it?

Estimates that of words produced today 13% is pen, 87% is digital

There is no programming, can cover a range of formats, potential for viewing rights control - makes for a personal space where sections can be opened as necessary.

Lots of different ways that you could use the eportfolio site, felt a bit like you could use it for anything and everything. Some institutions are also setting up some portal sites that also incorporate some eportfolio applications… however also include sections like fees owing and results advice.
